My name is Michele Barker and I am a wildlife and nature photographer from Maine.

After getting my first Canon 35mm SLR film camera in 2000, my interest in photography exploded. A whole new world of adventure opened up and my photographic journey began.

I did not have any formal training in photography, so I started reading books, magazines, and searching the internet to increase my knowledge on how to take that perfect photo.  In 2003 I signed up for an at home photography course through the New York Institute of Photography.  Through videos, course materials, photo assignments and critiquing from professional photographers at the institute, I was on my way to improving my photography.

Although I photograph a variety of subjects such as pets, events, and nature, my favorite subject to photograph is wildlife.  The joy and satisfaction that comes from observing and photographing wildlife is like no other that I can explain!

I am proud to announce that two of my eagle images have been included in the book Beauty and the Beak: How Science, Technology, and a 3D-Printed Beak Rescued a Bald Eagle by Deborah Lee Rose (Author), Jane Veltkamp (Author)

Beauty and the Beak tells the true story about an injured wild bald eagle who received the first ever 3D-printed beak.

And two of my osprey images have been included in the book Swoop and Soar by Deborah Lee Rose (Author), Jane Veltkamp (Author)
